HP Cartridges

HP CartridgesProduce by Hewlett Packard, HP cartridges are printer ink cartridges that can be used in printers and copies produced by Hewlett-Packard Company. HP is the largest technology company in the world and now has operations in almost every country. Hewlett-Packard was formed in 1939 by David Packard and Bill Hewlett in David Packard’s garage. The name was decided by the flip of a coin and could just as easily have ended up being Packard-Hewlett!

HP cartridges and printers are a later move by HP as initially they produced radio, sonar and radar devices during the second world war. Packard was the administrator of the two but Hewlett proved to be a great technical innovator and HP has therefore grown to be one of the largest producers of computers and printers as well as electronic testing and measurement devices. It is a reminder that huge successes have happened throughout history. HP was the Google of its day!

HP cartridges are for the inkjet printers that it now sells. In fact all the major suppliers of printers produce ink cartridges for them. HP sells two main types of printer, the laser printer and the inkjet printer. The inkjet printer is the more modern of the two and HP can claim a substantial share of the credit for the development of the modern inkjet printer in conjunction with some of its peers. HP make an incredible range of home and small office printers under the Inkjet brand. They have a huge amount of experience in research and development and this is reflected in their product lines.

The type of printer you have will determine the type of HP cartridge you will need. Laser printers require toner cartridges and inkjet printers require ink or inkjet cartridges. Laser printers and photocopiers use dry ink (toner) particles and Inkjet printers use liquid ink and the technologies and processes involved in the actual printing are completely different for each of these printers. There are three types of cartridge, OEM, compatible and remanufactured. Cartridges for different printers can also be incompatible either electrically or physically.

Generally HP’s customers range from large corporations to small and medium sized companies and also homeowners. They sell their cartridges online, to office suppliers, technology vendors and through software partners. HP has developed an easily identifiable packaging system that is colour coded, so that it is simple to select the correct cartridge for your printer.

HP is now a household name, it is amazing what can be created when two young innovators get together in a garage!
